Ross is a singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, performing in the Rochester, New York area. His finger-style guitar combines the percussive, gutbucket feel inspired by the Delta Blues songsters with a lush, jazzy harmony. His repertoire is rooted in Tin Pan Alley, blues, and standards, but includes his own work, more modern popular songs, and solo fingerstyle arrangements of classical, popular, and other instrumental music.
Ross plays this variety of music in a freewheeling, one-man-band style. As a singer, he can be brash and bluesy, plaintive and jazzy, or ironic and amusing. His own songs cover a wide variety of styles but are usually light, and bemused at the missteps of their broken and befuddled narrators. His attitude is one of perseverance and hope.
